'Modo de Vida' is a Portuguese word that translates 'into way of life'. The phrase was used as a title for Rohit Karandadi's independent animation film based on the life of Goa. The state labeled as a tourist hot spot known for its sun sand and night life has an harbors a quite and community driven village life making the most of the natures bounty intertwined with its many cultures. The film explores a general day to day life with its many seasons and sub cultures.
Pao is a Portuguese word for bread. Its is an integral part of the Goan culinary culture that complements curries of various kinds with different types of bread as well as a carbohydrate wrapper for snacks like cutlets and fitters. Photographed below are a few types of pao available from local bakeries in Goa.
Kaatre Pao (top left) is a tougher drier bread to go with curries. It comes from the word kaatre which means cutting as scissors are used to give a butterfly shape to the dough.
Poi (top right) is a coarser puffed bread with a pocket dusted with wheat bran as a crust.
Sweet Poi (bottom left) is comparatively more dense smooth and softer.
Kakana, or bangle (bottom right) is more drier and has longer shelf life. Its sweet tasting bread that goes well as a tea snack dipping.

The type was inspired by the azulejo tiles derived from its Portuguese culture. 'Azul' means blue hinting to the various tints of blue to paint with were tin glazed into shiny opaque ceramic ware for decorating architectural spaces
